The most common cups that you will find are just the plain old plastic disposable cups that you can buy from most stores. If you can find the plastic red cups with the ridges on the side, this would be allot better for you because it helps measure the amount of beer for your beer pong game.
As you set the cups up on each end of the table, just imagine a good old game of pool. This is how you want to have your cups set up on each end of the table in the shape of a triangle. Beer pong usually has six, ten or twelve cups with additional cups used to rinse off the ping pong balls.
Usually it is two people from one team go first and then two from the other team go, or you could have one player from each team go at the same time. Either way you have options on how you want to mix things up to make the game more exciting for you and your friends.
There are very few universal rules to this game. Some of the common house rules that you may hear allot about may consist of the following. Number of cups, bouncing, amount of alcohol, the distance of the shots that are being taken and the number of players on each team are the usual.
In some house rules you will find that cups have to be drank as soon as they are hit or your team may get a penalty. However while you are playing you always want to keep your cups in that main triangle formation as best as possible.
Some people believe that beer pong has allot to do with out of control drinking from college and high school students. This can be taken care of though if the parents are monitoring what their kids are doing, where they are hanging out and how they are getting the alcohol to play the game in the first place.
If you know your own body and what it can handle then you can base what kind of beer to drink and how much will be consumed. Many times what ends up happening is that you get these young people playing the game just to get wasted and that's where the problems begin. Beer pong is a fun household game meant to be played safe and responsibly.
Beer pong in some places is almost banned or trying to get there because allot of people believe that it encourages binge drinking. This all leads back to being responsible and knowing your limit. Even though it is tough to tell people how much to drink or whether or not to drink at all because this is mainly a house game, it is all up to the parents of these kids that are playing these games to monitor them.
