Kriya Yoga techniques are great way for a person to develop spiritually. They are slightly different from normal yoga as the techniques focus on using the source of spiritual energy that can be found in the spinal area. This may sound as if it is not a new technique, as lots of different forms of yoga focus on this area, but the majority do it indirectly. It uses certain positions to open up spinal channels which can then balance the energy in these regions. The breathing exercises help to regulate that energy.
This kind of system has been around for a very long time but was revived by Mahavatar Babaji in the 19th century. Its breath control exercises known as Pranayama are designed to accelerate someone's spiritual development. They can also put the person enter a very calm and relaxed state in which they might feel closer to God.
What makes this yoga different is that its technique is much more direct. It uses the practitioners awareness to mentally draw the energy up and down the spine. This technique is taught through initiation and it's learned from a Kriyaban or a kriya yogi. It is essential that this kind of yoga is practiced with awareness, and open-heart and sensitivity.
There are six spinal centres through which the energy is supposed to revolve in both upwards and downwards directions. These centres corresponds to the 12 signs in the Zodiac. It is thought that 30 seconds of this kind of energy is supposed to be equal to one year of spiritual development.
Kriya is made up of four different techniques which include meditation, concentration, doing energizing exercises and learning the Kriya technique. It requires a lot of study and commitment from the practitioner. They must realise that they need to study the different meditation techniques and to learn the energizing exercises.
This yoga was once widely practiced in ancient India and is to be found in Sacred Scripture. References to it can be found in the Bhagavad Gita, which is widely regarded as the most sacred Scripture to be found in Hindu religion. This Scripture is regarded by many to be an extremely important part of literature.
There are lots of ways that you can learn this type of yoga. You may choose to attend a class, or you may choose to learn it online and in the sanctuary of your own home. You will have to apply for self realization fellowship lessons so that you can learn the three basic techniques of meditation. Once you have completed this then you can go on to be initiated in Kriya yoga techniques.
